Inspiration comes like a car crash. Head on and usually unexpected. You can’t make yourself be inspired. you can only choose to be encouraged and impressed by the little things in life. you can only choose to be open and welcoming to change and to help. then you will find what you weren’t looking for… inspiration.
We could sit around and talk, or lay around with thoughts.
We...
Dear chocolate colored nail polish,
I like you so much I could almost eat you. Key word, almost. Dear graphic design class, you weren’t as horrific as usual today. Thank you for that. Dear spring break, what on earth are we going to do about you? I would like to go to the beach so that I can eat strawberry ice cream cones and ride an antique bike and live in a swim suit and sundress for a week. What are you thinking? maybe you...
Love in LA →
Dear saturday morning, you have been fabulous. Loving your blueberry muffin and O.J. breakfast and your early morning tunes to accompany doing laundry. Dear sister, please let me make you a prom dress so we can bond. I miss you. Dear Clintomas, the late night gatherings lately have been oh so fun. Favorites: midnight trip to Sunrise Cafe and catching the 2nd half of Braveheart. Dear newly arranged...

sometimes memories are like a cage. they inclose you and trap your thoughts so that no others can get in. no matter how hard you try you cant escape the good that you once were overcome by.
sometimes memories are the only thing you have left to love. they are the ashes from a fire. ugly and swayed by the wind, but the only remains nonetheless.
sometimes memories are the modes of thought you...
inspiring quotes from an incredible book
“I wanted only to look at her green eyes and to hear the lilting song of her voice, as though her words were the notes I had been searching for, the vital sounds that I had never played.”
“I glanced over at the man often and he looked at me too. It was inevitable that we meet. Like rivers, we had been flowing on a course for one another.”
“If there is such a thing...
Day After Night by Anita Diamant →
Excellent book. I love her depiction of women in different eras of history. I loved it in The Red Tent, and I loved it again in Day After Night. She has a way of creating characters that makes them seam enticingly realistic. So much so that I almost wanted to be there… which is saying something for a holocaust book.
The story follows four women in a temporary imprisonment camp after the...

Stricken by Sadness
I can’t believe I am writing about something so personal. I never share. I hate sharing. I am the silent nodding one at Bible studies and the internal ponderer about everything else. Sure I can talk about interests and hobbies and the weather and such. I’m not a social outcast by any means, I just don’t like to let many people in.
But I let him in.
I let him love me endlessly...
The Lost Art of Gratitude by Alexander McCall...
Interesting concept that has been highly insightful. In the first chapter of this book the author talks about how fascinating it would be if a record of all of our actions in a day were recorded. First of course the big tasks like going to the store or stopping by the bank. then the little tasks like making the list to go to the store or writing out the check to take to the bank. then we move on...
I think music is what language once aspired to be.
– Love Begins in Winter by Simon Van Booy
(Truly an excellent book so far. One that can get you through the day and make you feel rewarded even though your accomplishments are few and far between. An inspiration of blissful creativity and a reminder of the good in all of us. The human in all of us.)
Feb. 1, 2010
For some people this is the start of the new year. February first marks the beginning of the fiscal year. When I grow up it will be the beginning of my year. New designs to create, new color schemes, new fabrics, new silhouettes. I can’t help but wonder if I will someday get there. Sometimes hope is all we have and faith is all we need.
I have a new love, rediscovered. Reading. I used to...
